FitShow says it syncs with Health. Your Health app disagrees.

FitShow ships with a huge share of under-desk walking pads, the TOPUTURE TP7 and TP8 among them. It can write to Apple Health — the capability is real, and sometimes it works. The threads that fill Reddit and the App Store reviews are about all the times it doesn't.

What owners actually report

The same patterns come up year after year, in forums and in FitShow's own review pages:

  • Distance arrives in Health, steps don't. The workout is there, the kilometres are there, and the number people actually watch is missing.
  • Sessions only exist if the app ran them. Start the pad with the remote or the console and there is nothing to sync — the walk happened, the record didn't.
  • Dropped connections lose walks. The connection wants the app open and in the foreground, and a drop mid-session often means the session is gone.
  • Very slow walking may not track at all. Reviewers report steps not tracking below about 2 km/h — which is exactly the speed range of walking while typing.
  • An account sits between you and your steps. Sign-in trouble is a recurring review theme, and no login can mean no recording.

Our own experience on a TP8 matches the connection and Health complaints, and the full side-by-side comparison goes through it feature by feature. As we say there: if yours behaves differently, tell us and we will update this.

Why this is structural, not a bug to patch

FitShow is built as a fitness platform — programs, virtual runs, social features — that happens to control your pad. Apple Health writing is one feature at the edge of that, not the reason the app exists. The session model requires you to start and stop in the app; the connection model assumes the app is in the foreground; the data model syncs what the platform cares about, which is not always the step samples Health users care about.

One more wrinkle that is not FitShow's fault: some pads never emit a step count over Bluetooth at all, only distance. On those pads there is nothing to sync unless an app derives steps from distance and stride — and labels them honestly as estimates.

Worth trying before you replace it

  1. Check Health write permission. In the Health app, open your profile, then Apps under Privacy, find FitShow, and make sure the write categories are on. Syncing was authorised once, at first launch, and a declined prompt is silent forever after.
  2. Start and stop the walk inside FitShow, with the app in the foreground, signed in. Sessions run from the remote will not sync.
  3. Check the source order. If steps arrive but the daily total ignores them, that is data source priority, not FitShow — drag it above iPhone in the Steps sources.

If steps still don't land after that, it is not you, and no setting you can reach will change it.

Or skip the fight

Same pad. Different app in the middle.

Waalk was built for exactly the pads FitShow ships with. It connects to the pad directly over Bluetooth, records from the belt with the phone locked and no account, and writes every walk to Apple Health as an Indoor Walk workout — distance to the metre, net active energy, and steps estimated from belt distance and your stride, labelled as estimates. Move and Exercise rings get credit. Retries never duplicate.

TOPUTURE TP7 and TP8 verified. Most Bluetooth walking pads that use the standard fitness machine profile should work for recording. One thing to remember on day one: close FitShow before you walk — the pad accepts one connection at a time.

Questions

Before you switch.

Can I keep FitShow installed?Yes. Keep it for its programs if you like them. Just close it before recording with anything else — the pad accepts one Bluetooth connection at a time, and a stolen connection looks exactly like a broken pad.
Does my old FitShow history carry over?Whatever it already wrote to Apple Health stays in Health permanently. History that only lives inside the FitShow app doesn't transfer anywhere.
My pad shows only kilometres, no steps. Broken? No. Some pads never emit a step count over Bluetooth, only distance. Steps then have to be derived from distance and stride, and an honest app labels the result as an estimate.
